ROV Before Diving

Inspect First, Then Decide

ROV survey is ideal when you need eyes underwater quickly. It can reduce wasted dive time, confirm conditions, locate targets and give clients video evidence before heavier intervention is planned.

ROV Capability

  • 100m maximum depth rating
  • 150m tether length
  • Approx. 12 hour run time
  • 1080p video capture
  • Optional GoPro mounting for improved video quality
  • Can operate in up to 1.4 knots of tide, subject to site conditions

Final suitability depends on access, visibility, current, tether management, weather, vessel position and the inspection objective. No point pretending otherwise — water likes making fools of tidy plans.

100m Maximum ROV depth rating for suitable inspection work
150m Tether length for extended inspection and target access
12hr Approximate run time for practical site survey operations

Built for Underwater Inspection

Common ROV survey uses

Bridge Inspections

Visual checks around bridge piers, abutments, scour areas and underwater structures.

Harbour & Quay Walls

Underwater video survey for walls, piles, sheet piles, fenders and marine assets.

Outfalls & Culverts

Inspection support for pipe ends, blockages, damage, debris and restricted access areas.

Pontoons & Moorings

Checks around moorings, anchors, chains, pontoon structures and submerged fittings.

Target Finding & Evidence

Waypoint navigation and video inspection

The ROV can be supplied with Water Linked underwater positioning. If a client has coordinates, a known target or a waypoint, we can use that to help navigate accurately underwater and record what is found.

Client Waypoints

Useful where clients need a known asset, target, mooring or inspection point located.

1080p Video

Standard video capture for inspection evidence, visual review and project records.

GoPro Option

Optional GoPro mounting available where improved video quality is required.

Low-Vis Support

Useful in low visibility water where close inspection and controlled movement are needed.

Need underwater inspection without dragging the job out?

Send the location, target, depth and access details. MPHS can advise whether ROV, workboat, pontoon or a combined package is the cleanest route.

  • Site location
  • Launch or access point

Applications

Bridges, harbours, quay walls, pontoons, moorings, outfalls, culverts, intakes, canals, reservoirs and marine assets.

Survey Options

ROV-only survey, workboat-supported survey, pontoon-based inspection or combined marine access package.

Deliverables

Underwater video, still images where suitable, inspection notes and reporting options agreed around the job scope.

Need an ROV underwater survey?

Send the site details, target, depth, dates and access requirements. MPHS will price a practical underwater inspection package.

How deep can the ROV operate?

The ROV has a maximum depth rating of 100m, with 150m of tether available. Final operating suitability depends on access, current, visibility, weather, tether management and the inspection objective.

Can the ROV navigate to a waypoint?

Yes. The ROV can be supplied with Water Linked underwater positioning. Where a client provides a waypoint, coordinates or known target, this can support accurate underwater navigation and target finding.

Can the ROV work in poor visibility?

Yes, the ROV can support low visibility inspections. The final quality of video and the level of detail visible will still depend on water conditions, lighting, distance from the target and disturbance on site.

Can ROV surveys be supplied with a workboat or pontoon?

Yes. MPHS can supply ROV surveys with workboat, safety boat, pontoon or HIAB support where required. That is often the sensible option for bridge, harbour, canal and construction sites.
